The initial treatment and assessment of the shocked patient is summarised in this slide. These will include an overall quick examination, the clearing of the airway and administration of oxygen. A pressure bandage should be applied on any bleeding areas. The feet and of any bleeding limbs sould be elevated. Also included should be the insertion, if necessary, of at least two intravenous drips, before the blood pressure falls, and the veins are hard to find
