Note the photograph of the upturned petrol tanker in danger of catching fire. These illustrations aim to give a description of the emergency management of the patient at the accident site. This will be followed by an overall introduction to the management of fractures and other injuries in the Accident Centre. The definitive management of the commoner fractures in the fracture clinics and orthopaedic wards of receiving hospitals will then be described. The final section will describe the management of the complications of injuries.
